The Kingdom of Nepal covers an area of 147,181 sq. kms and stretches 145-241 kms North to South and 850 kms West to East. The country is located between India (in South) and China (in North). Nepal is topographically divided into three regions, the Himalaya to the North, the hills consisting of the Mahabharata range and the churia hills and the Terai to the South.
The highest point is Mt. Everest (8848 m) in the North is located at Kechana Kalan of Jhapa district.

Currency: Nepalese Rupee (NER) is the local currency of Nepal. Visitors have to declare their currencies upon arrival. Indian and Nepalese currencies can be carried out only by the Indian and Nepalese Nationals. Tourists have to exchange their currencies in foreign exchange counter authorised by Nepal Rastra bank.
Please note Notes of 500 and 1000 are not at all valid in Nepal. All major credit cards like American Express, Visa and MasterCard are acceptable in all major hotels, restaurants, carpet and curio shops throughout the country.
