As the country lies in the Southern hemisphere,
the season in South Africa are the reverse of those in the Northern
hemisphere. December and January are the main summer holiday months.
fever - A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from
travellers coming from the infected areas. Travellers on scheduled
flights which have originated outside the areas regarded as infected
and who are in transit through these areas are not required to
possess a certificate provided they have remained at the scheduled
airport or in the adjacent town during transit.
All passengers whose flights have originated in one of these areas
or who are travelling in transit through these areas on unscheduled
flights that make use of airports other than those used by schedule
airlines are required to possess a certificate Malaria - Malaria
risk exists throughout the year in the north, east and western
low altitude areas of Transvaal and in Natal coastal areas north
o 28o S.
Yellow fever immunisation is required only if the journey to the
Republic starts or entails passing through the Yellow Fever belt
of Africa or South America by any means other than by a scheduled
air service. The validity of Yellow Fever Certificates extends
to a period of ten years beginning ten days after the date of
immunisation or in the case of re-immunisation within such a period
